About our training
Our team has been lifeguard instructors for both American Red Cross and Ellis. In 2006, we all switched to StarGuard as our training provider. Starfish Aquatics truly represents the mindset that we were passionate about "Swimming pools will open each summer and quality training and support DOES make a difference in the proactive protection of the water". Just like you - Texas Panhandle StarGuard instructors are required to recertify every year. Each spring you will find them at an area pool doing their swim pre-requisits and sharing best practices that they have used or new ideas learned from outside training or conferences.
As each of you hire your personnel, it becomes difficult to attempt to get them all trained. We realized early on that Texas Panhandle teenagers and young adults are very accomplished. Whether it is graduation, prom, baccalaureate, state competition or college it is almost impossible to get them trained in time. This is why we embraced the hybrid method of training, using online materials to handle much of the "lecture and reading" portion of a traditional class. The students must successfully complete all the modules in the online portal and pass the online test to be allowed in the skills training. The skill training day is non-stop training on rescues, CPR, AED, bloodborne pathogen, first aid and all in a team setting using equipment that should be at the facility they will be working at.
We don't stop there - It is important that the facility managers are aware of the training that their lifeguards have attended. We provide each facility with a pre-season inservice training and also assist ANY facility who may need help setting up ongoing inservice training or documentation that is important to an aquatic venue.

Lifeguard Training is a critical component to providng a safe swimming pool or waterpark for your community. At PLASAFE, all of our instructors have years of experience running municipal, private and homeowners facilities ranging from small pools to large waterparks.. We know how difficult it is to meet the demands of opening a facility every year from a maintenance and hiring standpoint. While we can't help you plaster the pool - we can definitely take care of the training for you!
